Success Stories

 

Piper

is a 1 year old  Chocolate Lab that was a survivor of a dog cull. She had a bullet in her eye and was heartworm positive. We had the eye removed in Manitoba and then flew her to Oakville,ON where a loving foster family took her in and helped her through a long procedure to treat her heartworm.  Piper grew to be a very affectionate and loving girl and ended up being a foster fail. The family could not part ways with Piper after all she had been through. She now lives an amazing life and has her own instagram account called @pawsome.pipe.

 

Theo

was a 1 year old momma locked in a shed with her newborn pup for no one to find. Against all odds she was discovered by one of our rescue teams just doing a walk through. Not only did they have to cut the lock off the shed they had to rummage through garbage to make sure there were no dogs inside.  That’s when they found Theo and her pup Pan. Theo flew to Ontario where she and Pan both found forever homes but unfortunately for Theo she tested positive for Heartworm disease and endured a lengthy battle to fight it.  Theo is now living her best life traveling across the continent with her adopters.

 

Hashbrown

was a stray dog in the community that quickly made friends with a team of vets and technicians that flew in to conduct a spay and neuter clinic. When the team was loading the play to leave Hashbrown ran onto the tarmac to leave with them. Unfortunately Hashbrown did not have a rescue in Ontario set up and ready to take him so the airport staff carried him off the tarmac and left him back on the road to watch the plane and his fellow k9 friends leave for a better opportunity.  When we heard about Hashbrown’s story we immediately got in contact with a community member who kept HAshbrown safe until we could fly him to Toronto where he joined a foster family and was very quickly adopted out to a family who had another dog waiting to welcome Hashbrown into the family.

Rescue Operations

How do you identify dogs in need of rescue?

We are asked by communities that have an overpopulation of dogs they want to surrender or they may be injured or pregnant.  By intaking these surrendered dogs we are helping to keep the community safe for the members and for other dogs.  

Any dog that lacks one of the 5 freedoms of animal welfare we consider to be in need of help. Majority of the time our focus is on the North and recommend an alternative rescue to a local surrender.
